Due to dynamic development of Anti Money Laundering (AML) in Citi Service Center Poland, demand for experts in this field is increasing. Currently job market is facing lack of academic training in this field, so Citi, as a leader in AML, committed to support universities in enriching educational programs about the issue of AML.

Major step in this direction was taken on 15 January 2014, at the Kozminski Univeristy in Warsaw, where students could participate in workshop about AML – “An Introduction to the International Certificate in Anti Money Laundering” organized by Citi in collaboration with the International Compliance Association (ICA ) and the International Compliance with Training (ICT). Both institutions promote awareness and good practices in the field of AML in the world, and ICA professional certifications are recognized globally, and are considered as confirmation of knowledge and academic preparation in this subject.

The workshop was attended by 24 recommended by the university students, along with the academic authorities . On behalf of Citi, patronage over the event was held by Karim Tadjer - EMEA AML Operations Head. AML Senior Operations Managers were also present, since they will be continuing workshop sessions at other colleges and universities in the future.

Prior to the workshop, participants familiarized themselves with the materials, learning about legislation and the impact of AML on financial institutions and their employees. Students had also a chance to take part in practical exercises and case studies. The session was finalized with an exam verifying the knowledge gained during the educational program. Passing the exam will result in obtaining professional certification - ICA Certificate in Anti Money Laundering .

The program is a stepping stone towards understanding processes and regulation to prevent money laundering, it will equip the student with strong tools and develop a culture of control paramount in money laundering prevention and in the banking industry. I hope that we can instill in the students a new passion said Karim Tadjer about the pilot session of AML workshops for students.

In the nearest future Citi will continue the workshops at other key universities in Warsaw.
