Citibank Offers Most Insurance Solutions of Any International Bank in China
Karachi – Citibank Pakistan organized a "Diversity Week" at its branches in Karachi, Hyderabad, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot and Faisalabad as part of its ongoing commitment to fostering diversity within the bank. While diversity is a cornerstone of Citi's employment practices, this is the first time that 40 countries throughout Citi's EMEA (Europe Middle East & Africa) region, including Pakistan, jointly sought to generate awareness on the importance of diversity in the workplace.
More than 700 employees and their families from across the country participated in 25 events ranging from parenting skills for young couples, bring your children to work day, the working-woman's-sponsor's day, networking bingo night, "culinary contests" and "cultural dress days."
Citi Pakistan organized a "Sponsors Day" for mothers of female staff as part of Citi Diversity Week.
Pouruchisty Sidhwa Country HR Officer said: "As ‘New Age' as it might sound, diversity is about understanding and appreciating differences and Citi's Diversity Week has been an all-encompassing experience – we've helped enlighten young parents on the ways of good parenting, invited employee children to our offices in eight branches, conducted interesting workshops for mothers or sponsors of our female contractual staff based at out of way locations, and had a stand up comedy night with popular duo Anwar Maqsood and Moin Akhtar. We've also launched Citi Women & Co. as an employee network working for the needs of female staff and are in the process of introducing Arabic classes for our staff by way of diversity of employee development."
Branch Manager Islamabad Imran Cheema said, "This is an excellent initiative as it enables us to foster diversity but most importantly it is an opportunity for us to realize what an energetic and forward-looking company of which we are a part."
Citi Country Officer of Pakistan, Arif Usmani, giving a certificate to student of TCF – a school for underprivileged children – who was inducted as an eight-week intern.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of Diversity week, Citi Country Officer and Managing Director, Citi Pakistan, Arif Usmani said, "For Citi, diversity is a combination of inclusion, opportunity and meritocracy and this past week has been an attempt to raise diversity awareness among our employees, promoting an inclusive environment and developing and engaging talent in a dynamic way. In short, achieving diversity requires not only long-standing, good policies but also versatility, commitment, vision and discipline."
