Volunteerism is a cornerstone of the Citi employee experience, with many employees regularly engaging in community service year-around. Global Community Day is an opportunity for Citi to showcase and reinforce that shared commitment by inviting employees, families and friends to collaborate as a single global volunteer team. Working throughout North America, Asia Pacific, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, Citi volunteers lend their time and expertise to concentrate on local community needs, including literacy, housing, environmental protection, nutrition, health care and disaster relief.

United Way Hungary is Citibank Hungary’s long-term non-profit partner that helps setting up the local volunteer programs. This year the Citibank Hungary team worked together to enhance the school circumstances of around 160 children aged 2-18 studying at the Ferencvaros Special Care Complex School located in the 9th district of the capital. The volunteer work extended to window painting, decorating the classrooms with fairy tale murals, gardening and cleaning up the school yard.

Batara Sianturi, Citi Country Officer for Hungary said, “I am pleased that I had the opportunity to join the Citibank Hungary Team for the sixth year in a row. This year our team worked together to improve the environment of children with mental disabilities coming from underprivileged families and we are all confident that the healthy and colorful environment can significantly contribute to their development. At the same time it was great to see how our colleagues dedicated their time and demonstrated tremendous team efforts in order to help children in need.”
