Citi Scoops Top Honors at the Euromoney Global Awards for Excellence 2018
July 13, 2018
Budapest, Hungary - Citi has been awarded World’s Best Investment Bank at the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2018, held in London on 11th July. The bank was also named World’s Best Bank for Financing and World’s Best Bank for Corporate Responsibility.
In addition to capturing these three global awards, Citi also took top honors with eleven additional awards, including Central and Eastern Europe Best Investment Bank and Best Bank for Transaction Services in Central and Eastern Europe.
Commenting on Citi’s success, Euromoney noted that: “The rationale behind Citi’s nomination as the world’s best investment bank this year is simple, but impressive. In every part of the world that Euromoney considered the credentials of the leading regional investment banks, Citi was a genuine contender. These arguments speak to two incontrovertible facts about Citi’s Institutional Clients Group (ICG) today: no other firm comes close to the scale and breadth of Citi’s wholesale banking operations; and Citi hasn’t just built and maintained a global network, it has built one that works and is increasingly valued by its clients, who view Citi as a true partner to their own global businesses. Competitors are now catching on that Citi has something they don’t. Clients realized this a lot earlier.”
Citi was also recognized across a number of regional categories including:
Jamie Forese, President of Citi and Head of Citi's Institutional Clients Group commented: "Citi has had a tremendous 12 months, delivering on our commitments by leveraging the synergies of our ICG platform. We continue to see evidence in our results that our major advantage when serving large, sophisticated clients is our global network -- one that cannot be replicated by our competition. Being recognised by Euromoney is a testament to our capabilities."
On being named World’s Best Bank for Corporate Responsibility, Ed Skyler, Citi’s Executive Vice President for Global Public Affairs and Chair of the Citi Foundation said: “The societal issues impacting our communities today require a different level of engagement from companies. It’s no longer about being a good corporate citizen. We must use our business, our philanthropy and our voice to stand for issues that matter most.”
Kevin A. Murray, Citi CEO for Central Europe, Country Head for Hungary said: “We are delighted to be recognized by Euromoney’s prestigious industry awards as the Best Investment Bank and Best Bank for Transaction Services. Our commitment to providing excellence in every interaction with our clients, combined with the impressive array of Citi products and our best-in-class banking innovations from around the world put us in an excellent position to provide the very highest level of service for our clients.”
The Euromoney Awards for Excellence are recognized as the most prestigious in the financial services industry.
