You are automatically covered by Car Rental Collision/Loss Damage Waiver Insurance when you rent a vehicle in your name, decline the agency's collision damage waiver or loss damage waiver (or similar provision) and use your card to pay for the entire cost of the rental. If your rental car is damaged or stolen you are covered for the amount that you are liable to the rental agency up to the actual cash value of the vehicle. Note that, depending on the type of card you have, coverage will not be provided if the rental period exceeds 31 consecutive days OR 48 consecutive days, and that vehicles costing over $65,000 are not covered.
