Capital Injection Accounts

What is it?

  • A Capital Injection Account is a non-operating account opened solely for the purpose of receiving the initial deposit required for the incorporation of a new business entity. This initial deposit may be necessary to comply with local country incorporation requirements. Requirements for capital injection accounts are often more simple than full account openings but certain documents are still required.

Where is it required?

  • It is required mainly in Europe (Central and Western Europe) and some Latin American countries
  • Please consult your legal counsel to determine if there are capital injection requirements for any new legal entity formations and account openings
  • If Citi does not offer Capital Injection accounts in a particular geography, then typically one would not be required in that country as part of creating a new legal entity
  • Any countries where a Capital Injection account is required, we will provide it to you. Documentation requirements for this account will vary country to country.
