New Merchant Category Codes Provide Additional Audit Detail

Effective May 2015, new Merchant Category Codes (MCC's) will be available for authorization and in Citi's online tools to assist Agency Program Coordinators (APCs) in monitoring adherence to their Agency's spend policy. The new MCC's will provide APCs with a greater level of control and visibility over these additional spend categories. APCs will not need to add these new codes to the existing MCC templates as some of the new MCCs are considered "Sin Codes" by Citi and are automatically applied to all MCC templates. Also, please note that as these are new MCC's, it may be some time before the appropriate merchants are assigned these codes by their originating bank. If your Agency/Organization utilizes MCC auto-reallocation features, you may also need to maintain those rules on CCMS.

Your cardholders will NOT be allowed to make transactions that fall into the below, Legal Gambling MCCs. If necessary, APCs may request a one-time override and will need to follow the existing request process. Please contact your Client Account Specialist if a one-time override is required.
