Ignacio (Nacho) Gutiérrez-Orrantia appointed CEO of Citibank Europe Plc

Citi has appointed Ignacio (Nacho) Gutiérrez-Orrantia as Chief Executive Officer of Citibank Europe plc (CEP). Headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, CEP is one of Citi’s largest legal entities and the main bank subsidiary for Citi in Europe. Gutiérrez-Orrantia takes on this role in addition to his existing Europe Cluster and Banking Head role, which he has held since November 2023.

Citi Foundation Announces 2024 Global Innovation Challenge to Strengthen Nonprofits Pioneering Solutions to Homelessness

The Citi Foundation has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for its latest Global Innovation Challenge , a funding model to help scale the impact of nonprofits around the world that are tackling some of society’s most pressing issues. The 2024 Global Innovation Challenge will provide a collective $25 million in catalytic funding to 50 community organizations working in novel ways to address homelessness.

Citi and BBS continue successful Bank of the Future course

Citi Hungary (Citi) and Budapest Business School Faculty of International Management and Business (BBS FIMB) are launching the “Building the Bank of the Future” course this September. Entering into its second year, the English-language experimental course welcomes a new crop of 30 students to develop an understanding of banking and what the bank of the future will be like.

Citi Foundation Invests Further $250,000 in Program Supporting Young People with Disabilities in Central Europe

Citi Foundation announced a new investment of $250,000 to the successful Ascend Program run by The European Disability Forum (EDF). The program was designed to build the disability movement among young people in Hungary and four other Central European countries: Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Romania and Slovakia. This new grant takes the total investment in the program to $500,000.

Citi Foundation Invests $250,000 in European Disability Forum’s Program Supporting the Empowerment of People with Disabilities in Central Europe

Citi Foundation announced the launch of the new community program “Strengthening the Disability Movement in CE” to be implemented across five countries in Central Europe: Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia, starting in 2022. The program will be rolled out in partnership with the European Disability Forum (EDF), a strong umbrella non-profit organization, led by persons with disabilities and their families, defending the interests of over 100 million persons with disabilities in Europe. In Hungary, the program will support the Hungarian National Council of Associations of People with Disabilities build their capacity to serve people with disabilities in the country by upgrading their communication systems, providing technical assistance in the assessment of national laws and policies, trainings on EU funding and advocacy, as well as youth engagement opportunities.

Citi Appointed Munir Nanji as Central Europe Cluster Head and Citi Country Officer for Czech Republic

Citi has announced the appointment of Munir Nanji as Central Europe Cluster Head and Citi Country Officer (CCO) for Czech Republic, commencing September 1, 2021. Munir succeeds Kevin A. Murray, who retired in August 2021, as the new Cluster Head. He will report to Kristine Braden, Europe Cluster Head and will be responsible for Citi’s franchises in Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia as well as 11 non-presence countries in the cluster. In his role as CCO for Czech, which is subject to regulatory approval, Munir succeeds Michal Nebesky, who announced his intention to pursue new professional opportunities.

50 000 saplings in Pilisi Parkerdő – to mark Citi’s milestone anniversaries in Hungary

A double jubilee is celebrated by Citi in Hungary this year: 35 years ago, in 1985 Citi Hungary was founded, while the Citi Solutions Center, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, was established in Budapest in 2005. Citi, which values sustainability very highly, wishes to make the double jubilee memorable by planting 50.000 saplings in Hungary.

Citi Appointed Veronika Spanarova as Citi‘s Chief Executive Officer for Hungary

Citibank Europe plc appointed Veronika Spanarova as the Citi’s Chief Executive Officer for Hungary. In her new role, she will be responsible for leading the growth of Citi Hungary’s businesses whilst maintaining the highest standards of franchise soundness. Veronika replaces Mr. Kevin A. Murray in this role following his appointment as the CEP Branch Head and Citi Solutions Centre Head Poland. Beside his new role, Mr. Murray will remain Citi’s CEO for Central Europe.

Citi Celebrates 11th Annual Global Community Day in Hungary Together with more than 85,000 Citi Volunteers Across 500 Cities Around the World

Hungary. Budapest – On June 11 Citi celebrated its 11th annual Global Community Day, as more than 320 Citi volunteers in Hungary joined 85,000 colleagues, alumni, clients, family and friends in more than 500 cities in 91 countries and territories to engage in service activities in their local communities. In the days leading up to and including Global Community Day, Citi volunteers participated in more than 1,400 service projects ranging from urban revitalization to literacy and education, career readiness, environmental conservation and disaster relief.
